This year Clevertouch celebrates 15 years since it was launched on the market as a distinctive brand, which has stood out over time through innovation, easy-to-use interactive technology and the integration of advanced features such as 4K cameras in their All-in-One solutions.
Although a relatively “young” brand compared to others in the industry, the company’s history dates back 100 years, to 1924, when a business was founded that maintained and repaired typewriters, and later word processors for renowned companies in the United Kingdom. Later, in 1984, the Sahara company was founded, led by two technology-loving brothers, Kevin and Nigel Batley, who could boast many firsts on the specialized market such as the writing boards with sliding rails, the sand-colored writing board or the famous orange video projectors for classrooms.

Launch of Clevertouch in 2009
In the early 2000s, when touch technology began to dominate, the Batley brothers committed to bringing to market what would be the first interactive display dedicated to Education. Thus, the Clevertouch brand was launched and revealed for the first time in the world in 2009 at the BETT event in London, one of the most famous international EdTech fairs. Since then, Clevertouch has stood out as a brand capable of innovation, proposing many features in the field of interactive screens and helping to produce the changes that then came to dominate the market: they were the first to come up with mobile device management, LYNX software, “over-the-air” updates, capitalizing on BYOD installations and content sharing using Clevershare or the ability to transmit digital signage content to any of the Clevertouch products through the CleverLive platform.

A successful team
In 2017, Sedao Digital Signage was acquired by Sahara, which brought additional benefits to Clevertouch solutions. At the time, David Oades, former owner of Sedao, now Director of Software Development at Clevertouch, said that the focus would be on unifying communications, rather than content. In his vision, the solutions offered must ensure the display of messages in any environment through a clear and cost-effective channel and these messages, be they posters, texts or videos, must be as visible as possible. Also in 2017, Adam Kingshott, the group's Marketing Director, joined the company's board, who promised to make the company a multi-award winning and globally recognized business. Today, Clevertouch continues to flourish with John Ginty, Sales Director for the EMEA area. In 2020, Sahara and Clevertouch are acquired by the American group Boxlight and continue their path to success.
